SSAA WA Conservation and Wildlife Management Branches work closely with government departments and environmental groups, assisting in conservation programs throughout the state.
Run purely by volunteers CWM has been actively involved in delivering feral and pest animal control programs for government departments, private land-managers and non-government organisations throughout the state for many years.
Our activities provide a species specific and no cost option in removing feral and pest animals. We also assist with wildlife and vegetation surveys, collection of research specimens and empirical data, warren destruction, revegetation activities and restoration of historical sites.
Our members are bound by the organisation’s ethics and behavioural guidelines, having undergone an accreditation process involving a full theory course and practical firearms handling and marksmanship assessment.
As well, our members have regular ongoing skills development includes bushcraft, first aid, conservation and animal welfare, map reading and use, ethical hunting practices, GPS use, marksmanship, 4WD use, chainsaw certificates, remote communications and more.
As CWM is based upon the coordinated control of feral and pest animals throughout the state our activities are field based and occur at various times and locations throughout the year, our groups operate out of the South West of the State as our name suggests.
If you feel you could use our expertise, or would like to join, please contact us to find out how we may be able to help you and our environment.
Pictured below is one of WA's most vulnerable species the Red- tailed Phascogale. We are proud to be helping save these animals from extinction.
