Commonsense prevails with Perth SSAA SHOT Expo set to go ahead
July 10, 2018
Western Australian shooting, hunting and outdoor enthusiasts won’t miss out on one of the biggest events of the year despite earlier threats of cancellation, with the SSAA SHOT Expo set to go ahead in October thanks to the combined efforts of licensed firearm owners. Authorities have pledged to work with exhibitors and the SSAA to ensure the viability of the occasion. Many key and local exhibitors had expressed reservations about attending the Perth Expo, but those worries have been eased.
The SSAA, aided by a targeted mailing campaign with the help of our members, has successfully convinced the Western Australia Police, the government and policy-makers that the loss of the Expo would have massive repercussions for the economy and viability of the firearms industry. Because of these united efforts, authorities have committed to making the event a success, heralding a win for commonsense.
The SSAA SHOT Expo is a major drawcard on the events calendar, with visitor numbers regularly exceeding 15,000 people and hundreds of exhibitors attending. Many attendees travel from interstate and even overseas, contributing vital money to the state’s economy and tourism sectors.
The SSAA SHOT Expo will be held for the third time in WA at the Claremont Showgrounds on October 13 and 14 this year. We are calling on our members and the community at large to come along and help make the event our most successful Expo yet.
